About Miyuki

Doors” seem to be a metaphor in helping us understand answers to questions in life-lessons or for those creating new paths. It is a way of expressing a gateway of change.  Photographing doors and gates with personality and interesting detail is pleasing to the eye and may have you ponder, “What is behind that door”?

Welcome to my site and I hope you find my photographs to be colorful and soulful and that they will add spark to any decor in any room.  The doors or gates make a great conversation piece placed at the end of a hall or in an entrance. Depth and light to a room or interesting focal point may be its purpose.

For years we have been vacationing in Mexico and I have always felt a connection to the Mayan history and an enchanting island off of Cancun, Isla Mujeres. This beautiful tiny island is dotted with colorful doors and gates against limestone and concrete buildings. The ones that are not as colorful are striking and make a statement as well.  The beauty of the sea only enhances the history and mystery of the “Island of Women”, and being there with my best friend and my sister while listening to my favorite band MAE, I was empowered!

Combining quotes with these doors seemed appropriate to me so that a soon to be released book “Doors of Isla Mujeres” ©2006, was created and also projected, a 2008 calendar.

Available now is a beautiful 18x24 poster. A colorful mixture of textures and shapes make you travel from door to door.  It is reflective in the one quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Be an opener of doors” to convey the whole idea of “doors”.

I have been photographing most of my life and have a loving husband of 20 years and 3 adoring children. We have been blessed with a healthy and wealthy lifestyle and enjoy sharing healthful beliefs.

The law of expression says if you think it, speak it, act it, you make the invisible world manifest itself in the physical world.  I also am a great believer in reciprocity so for the inspiration for the “Doors of Isla Mujeres” I intend to help  the education of the islands children by donating a portion of proceeds of sales from my website.

Thank-you for your visit and please feel free to contact me.  Comments are so welcome!
